Last Monday (1.07.2019) we had the pleasure to host in Krzyżowa three nature scientists: Hanna Sztwiertnia, Małgorzata Pietkiewicz and Małgorzata Ruda, who opened the world of nature to the Foundation's educators.

The participants of the training looked closely at both old oaks and the smallest petals of the dandelion, listened to to fire-bellied toads and chaffins, tried to taste the sweetnes of the flowers of clovers and smelled the parsley-smelling stems of ground elder. In a word, they absorbed nature with all their senses and learned the methods of field work during the training in natural science education.

A Western Balkans Summit will be held in Poznań on 3-5 July. It is a meeting of EU ministers with representatives of the governments of the Western Balkan countries aspiring to join the EU.

As part of the summit, on 4 July, meetings of the Civil Society Forum will be held. It is one of the forms of cooperation, consultation, exchange of ideas and experience between non-governmental organisations and representatives of civil society, which is aimed at supporting initiatives of the Western Balkan countries - Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, Macedonia and Serbia.

As part of the panel "Overcoming the legacy of the past", the Polish experience of reconciliation with Germany will be presented by Dr. Tomasz Skonieczny - Deputy Head of the European Academy of the Krzyżowa Foundation.

The Western Balkans Summit is part of the Berlin Process, an initiative launched in 2014 to support the integration of these countries with the European Union. In 2019, Poland took the lead in this process.

Last week, the first cycle of workshops within the project "Good food from nearby" ended. Pupils of grade 7b of Primary School No. 6 in Świdnica during five meetings got acquainted with and reflected on topics related to food and the food system. During the workshops we talked about elements and dependencies in the food system, ending resources needed for food production and its environmental costs, pollution associated with industrial agriculture.

The third edition of the seminar, which was formerly called “Reconciliation and Remembrance”, started on 16 June. In this project, we focused on presenting various aspects of the relations between Poland and Germany in the light of achievements and challenges in the reconciliation process between two nations. The aim of the discussions and workshops was to inspire young people to overcome divisions in order to build a common European future.
