On 5-7 April we hosted a school exchange with pupils from Legnica (II High School in Legnica) and Wuppertal (Wilhelm-Dorpfeld-Gymnasium). During the three days spent in Krzyżowa, the young people had the opportunity to get to know each other better, and to prepare themselves morally and intellectually for visiting the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp.
Together with the young people, we discussed the difficult emotions that can arise when visiting places with terrifying history, such as Auschwitz, and shared our doubts about whether it is necessary to visit similar places in order to learn history. An important topic during this meeting were issues related to human rights and their violation - not only during the Second World War, but also now, in our countries, cities, and communities.

From 1 to 4 April 2019, young people from Wrocław and Tettnang stayed in Krzyżowa as part of a longer exchange that took place in the partner cities of schools (first in Tettnang and then in Wrocław). It was an exchange taking place within the framework of a new PNWM programme called "Eksperyment Wymiana" (Experiment Exchange), concerning school exchanges in the STEAM area (since, technology, engenering, art and mathematics).
The main theme of the whole exchange was to study the unfavourable aspects of the organization of events (mass and family): calculation of energy consumption, water consumption, waste production and waste quality, CO2 production, mass farming of meat and fish, and the search for alternative ways to organize an eco-friendly birthday party (alternative ways to produce energy, save water, use ecological materials, waste management and sorting, etc.).
At the beginning of April a group of young people from the Silesian Mountain and Cologne came to Krzyżowa.
For the third time, young people learning to work as painters, roofers, IT specialists and logisticians will have the opportunity to get to know themselves and break stereotypes. There will also be time to learn both languages.
One of the main points of the programme will be the joint work of young people for the benefit of the centre in Krzyżowa. The effects of their work will be visible long after both groups go to their homes.
