On August 15th, in the courtyard of the Krzyżowa Foundation for Mutual Understanding in Europe a FAMILY PICNIC took place. The organizers invited to the event residents of Krzyżowa and surrounding towns and villages. Many attractions awaited the participants, which allowed them to spend an interesting afternoon, and for the Foundation it was an opportunity to remind the local community about the 30th anniversary of this unique meeting place.

The PICNIC programme was addressed, among others, to the youngest residents - children took part in artistic and ecological workshops, during which they made ecological bags and decorated wooden medals. The youngest children could also make their own buttons, magnets and key rings. When the participants went through all the workshops and completed the tasks in the sports town, they received a special newspaper with their photo as a reward. After the tasks had been completed, the children could use the inflatable jumping castles, which were at their disposal all the time.

Adults could take part in "Art in Krzyżowa" or "Festive clothing exchange" fairs and then dance to the music presented by the invited DJ. There was also a special guided tour around the palace, park complex and through the exhibition "Courage and Reconciliation". And everyone was also eager to take up the offer of catering stands, including delicacies prepared by the Village Housewives' Association from Pszenno, the Parish Council from Grodziszcze or the Old Man's Club from Grodziszcze.

For the Krzyżowa Foundation the Picnic was also an opportunity to meet with the closest neighbors. For 30 years, meetings of young people from Poland, Germany and other countries of Europe and the world have been held in this unique place. The year 2019 is a jubilee year for the Foundation also due to the anniversary of the Reconciliation Mass in 1989.

Organizers of the event: Informal Group Reconciled , Krzyżowa Foundation for Mutual Understanding in Europe, Świdnica Community Council, Municipal Centre for Sports and Recreation Culture in Świdnica, County Association of Folk Sports Teams in Świdnica.

We would also like to thank all those who helped to organize the Picnic: the League of Polish Women branch in Świdnica, the Rural Women's Club from Pszenno, the Parish Council from Grodziszcze, the Elderly Club from Grodziszcze, the State Fire Service from Grodziszcze and scouts from the scouting team "Rose of Wind".

Event co-financed under the project "Lower Silesian Small Grants" implemented from the funds of the Marshal's Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.
