Local History on Instagram

We invite you to watch a short video made as a part of the project "Local history on Instagram", which was realized by the Krzyżowa Foundation in 2021.

The video using the Via Regia to explain the history of significant places in and around Hünfeld in Hessen.

The author of the video presents the Via Regia, the longest and oldest land connection and trade route between east and west europe. She shows significant places in Hünfeld like the "Bonifatiuskloster" and the tower with a view of the via regia.

The video shows the history of the "Stolpersteine", which have been laid since 1992 by Artist Gunter Demming at the last freely chosen places of residence of jews. This makes the "Stolpersteine" the largest decentralized memorial in the World.

The Author tells the stories of people, for whom the "Stolpersteine" were laid in Schüchtern. She places a candle next to each filmed "Stolperstein" and thus also leaves traces of remembrance at these places.

We invite you to watch a short video made as a part of the project "Local history on Instagram", which was realized by the Krzyżowa Foundation in 2021.

The film tells the story of the Monument to the Anonymous Passerby in Wroclaw, not far from the Old Town.

The author Anna Sofia Fritschle explains in the video that the monument was unveiled on the 24th anniversary of the imposition of martial law in Poland in response to the trade union movement Solidarnosc. The monument shows two things: the difficult times of martial law and the achievements of the anonymous people who fought communism underground and the changes that took place in Poland.
