Numbers
Those Numbers impressively illustrate how labour-intensive the year 2018 was for the Krzyżowa Foundation. Almost 30,000 participant days and 350 projects were spent in Krzyżowa: seminars, workshops, training courses and international school and extracurricular exchanges (around 4,300 participants from 31 countries around the world took part in the exchanges alone). 150 guided tours through the historical sites of Krzyżowa for almost 10,000 people. Dozens of events in surrounding schools, preschools and other educational institutions for almost 5,000 inhabitants of Lower Silesia ...

Anniversaries
2018 is a year of important anniversaries, including the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War and the regaining of the independence of Poland and many other people from Europe. We have often used the concept of freedom in this year's projects. We allowed ourselves to reflect on the value of freedom and how it should be nurtured.

The Foundation also celebrated an important anniversary. On 11 June 1998, Prime Minister Jerzy Buzek and Chancellor Helmut Kohl solemnly opened the newly renovated centre of the International Youth Meeting Centre. The memory of this event led us to witnesses of history - to participants in those events, including Prime Minister Jerzy Buzek. Their memories were recorded in the form of video films and complemented the memories of the celebrations 20 years ago.

On 13-15 February teams of employees of the Krzyżowa Foundation and our Berlin partner Kreisau-Initiative e.V. took part in the annual conference. This time the meeting took place in Krzyżowa.

The program of the meeting included workshops on courage to change, conducted by an external trainer, training on "Deep Democracy" training on how to talk to young people about difficult topics and how to deal with conflicts, as well as workshops on transformative learning.

On 02-10.02.2019 will be held in Krzyżowa XVII Master Course "Students of Masters". We will host over 130 people (professors, students and their parents). On 07.02, 08.02 and 09.02 at 19:00 parallel in the ballroom and multifunctional room, concerts will be held:

  • ballroom: violin, viola with piano accompaniment
  • multifunctional room: flute, clarinet, cello accompanied by piano

Admission to the concerts is free of charge.

It is with deep sadness that we have received the information about the tragic death of the Mayor of Gdańsk, Paweł Adamowicz.

No one remained indifferent to the tragic events that took place during the finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity in Gdańsk. The act of violence against the Mayor of Gdańsk Paweł Adamowicz has aroused our great objection and indignation. It is also particularly shocking that this tragic situation took place during the finale of the project, which has been a symbol of civil society activity. The moment before the attack, Pawel Adamowicz spoke about the goodness that the inhabitants of his city do.

In these dramatic circumstances, we should remember about the value of life and the strength of goodness. Let us not escalate hatred. Let us take responsibility for our words and build together a reality in which such acts of violence will not take place.

We would like to express our sorrow and condolences to the Family of Paweł Adamowicz.
