The Krzyżowa Foundation is one of the organizations thanks to which the EduSkills+ Reflections platform was created. The aim of the project is intercultural education through the development of competences in the field of dialogue and reflection, which create the foundations for building an attitude open to the world. Such dialogue is considered as a condition for social bonds and social development of complex communities. The EduSkills+ Reflections platform is, among others, a collection of free and creative didactic materials that shape the skills necessary for active participation in democratic and diverse societies, as well as films and multimedia containing tools for workshops teaching critical thinking.

The year 2019 was a special time for Krzyżowa - a time of jubilees. We celebrated the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Krzyżowa Foundation for Mutual Understanding in Europe and the 30th anniversary of the Reconciliation Mass. Eighty years have passed since the outbreak of World War II, and Poland has been a member of the European Union for fifteen years. This year was for us a time of reflection and memory.
We have wondered what the Krzyżowa Foundation has achieved and what new goals we should set ourselves today. In the anniversary year, together with our friends and partner organisations, we tried to recall the anniversaries we celebrated through various events. Therefore, throughout the year, we took initiatives addressed to different audiences to encourage different groups to think about the values that were the guiding idea of 2019: respect, dialogue and understanding.

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ!
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
lack of reconciliation and anger. Grief and resentment. Claims and fear. One side against another, brother against brother and tribe against tribe. On the one hand, feeling of the harm caused and the loss of something, which belonged to. On the other hand, at the same time fear, remorse, and the question which does not allow us to sleep: Will we ever forgive? Will our relations come back to their proper tracks? Can they still be good between us after the harm I have done?
We cannot change history. That is for sure. The way that we have done by our feet is always left behind us with everything that has met us there. Both beautiful and breathtaking views and breakdowns, tragedies, experiences. Two brothers, whose emotions and doubts I want to remind us, must have understood it well. Their history can be found at the beginning of the Bible.
Their past was difficult. There were Jacob’s fraud and Esau’s heartrending cry of anger. Hands reaching out for an undue blessing and the following live of a man tormented by remorse and fear of revenge that is coming back still. However, the brothers bring their story to one of the most beautiful and bracing parts of the Bible. To sincere and coming from a heart’s need for reconciliation and forgiveness.
Centers providing education on sustainable development and adaptation to climate change should, in order to be credible, lead by example and implement pro-environmental solutions. This cannot be done without conscious, educated and motivated teams – writes Ania Dańkowska in an article for the Heinrich Böll Foundation.
Ecological education is an important element of the Krzyżowa Foundation's activity. From April to November this year, we made additional efforts to ensure that our activities are fully compliant with the principles of sustainable development. We wanted to involve the whole team in the process of shaping the changes.
