Exactly one hundred years ago, on August 15, 1920, the Polish victory in the Battle of Warsaw took place. It was a key moment in the Polish-Bolshevik war that began in 1919, the outcome of which determined not only the fate of Poland, but of Central Europe as a whole.
In order to provide an insight into the events that took place in Central and Central-Eastern Europe one hundred years ago, the Krzyżowa Foundation together with the European Network Remembrance and Solidarity prepared an educational text entitled "In defence of independence and borders. Central Europe in the face of the Bolshevik Revolution". The text contains lesson plans together with supporting materials, which are addressed to secondary school students.

The courtyard in front of the palace in Krzyżowa was once again transformed into a one-of-a-kind cinema room. On Sunday, 8 August, as part of the summer Outdoor Cinema, the screening of the film "The Centenarian Who Climbed Out the Window and Vanished" by Felix Herngren took place. This time we offered the audience an adventure film with elements of a black comedy, about a nursing home resident who, on his hundredth birthday, decides to run away to start life anew.
Both the weather and the attendance were good - numerous cinema fans of all ages appreciated both the subject of the screening, as well as the place and formula of the Outdoor Cinema. Once again, almost all the seats were occupied, but the large space of the courtyard allowed for maintaining an appropriate distance and comfortable watching the film.

Many festivals had to be cancelled, however the sixth edition of Krzyżowa-Music, the international chamber music festival in Poland, can take place in this Corona year 2020. Under the artistic direction of Viviane Hagner, concerts almost as originally planned, are to be performed in Krzyżowa, Świdnica, Szczawno-Zdrój and Grodziszcze. During the last two weeks of August, 38 musicians from all over the world will present the results of their intensive rehearsals performing 40 pieces of chamber music in 12 concerts.

From 2 to 9 August, the "Work Space For Young Artists" took place in Krzyżowa, which is a unique meeting of young people from different countries. 44 participants aged 13-17 from Poland, the Czech Republic and Germany took part in it. It was the first international youth group to come to Krzyżowa since the pandemic was announced.
For 7 days, the participants of the "Work Space For Young Artists" developed their artistic talents under the supervision of experienced instructors and educators. The program included, among others, art, handicraft, dance and circus classes. Team games, integration games and language animations was also an important element.
