At the end of March, a meeting of Third Age Volunteers took place in Krzyżowa as part of the project "Food - from tradition into modernity". The volunteers joined a campaign to support our guests from Ukraine, who - fleeing war - found a safe shelter in Krzyżowa. The senior citizens brought with them gifts including sweets, drinks and homemade preserves, including pickled vegetables, jams and fruit juices. The gifts were donated to the kitchen, which is used by our guests from Ukraine on a daily basis.
In the second part of the day, the participants took advantage of the good weather to go to the area behind the moat, where an organic garden is being created. Several new elements have been added since the last meeting - the paved path has been completed, the covered pergola has acquired its final appearance, and the first green leaves of the recently sown radishes have appeared in the greenhouse.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Friends,
For over a month, our neighbours, friends, colleagues and co-workers in Ukraine have been experiencing violence and terror. The war that has been unleashed by Russia is forcing citizens of a free country to leave their homes and loved ones and seek refuge in other countries. The number of victims is increasing every day, as well as the brutality and inhumanity of the aggressor's actions.
This year's Easter is a particularly difficult time. The wishes we make at home, for the first time in a long time, will speak of peace, security and the end of war. Especially on this festive occasion, while spending it with our loved ones, let us gather enough strength and hope not to give in to fear and doubt. Let us be a support to those who need us so much at this time.
We wish you a peaceful, healthy and hopeful Easter!
Spring work in our ecological garden is underway. And young people play an important role in this work - among others, pupils from the Primary School in Grodziszcze, who take part in workshops as part of the project "Food - from tradition to modernity". Planting plants, tidying up beds and doing a lot of other gardening work is an important part of learning about nature. And as you can see, learning by doing is what the pupils like best.

This week, our guests from Ukraine spent a lot of time completing formalities related to their stay in Poland - with the help of our employees and volunteers, they finalized their application for a PESEL number. We also helped them to contact the bank, thanks to which many of them managed to open accounts. While parents were busy with official matters, the children were taken care of - they participated in sports and integration activities. We are continuing our programme of afternoon workshops for children and young people.
We are very happy that people from Ukraine who stay with us are finding their way better and better to the Polish reality. Adults find work, children go to school and kindergarten. We strongly encourage our guests in their efforts to gain self-sufficiency. Two families became so independent that they left our centre to live in rented flats. They were replaced by others who now need support.
