This week, our guests from Ukraine spent a lot of time completing formalities related to their stay in Poland - with the help of our employees and volunteers, they finalized their application for a PESEL number. We also helped them to contact the bank, thanks to which many of them managed to open accounts. While parents were busy with official matters, the children were taken care of - they participated in sports and integration activities. We are continuing our programme of afternoon workshops for children and young people.
We are very happy that people from Ukraine who stay with us are finding their way better and better to the Polish reality. Adults find work, children go to school and kindergarten. We strongly encourage our guests in their efforts to gain self-sufficiency. Two families became so independent that they left our centre to live in rented flats. They were replaced by others who now need support.
Our guests are also involved in local initiatives. Tomorrow, in nearby Pszenno, an Easter Fair will be held, organized by the local Commune of Świdnica. Our Foundation will have a stand at the market, and families from Ukraine will present Easter decorations and baked goods prepared for the occasion. Children and their parents will participate in one more very nice event. Świdnica Youth Culture Centre organizes today (8.04.2022) a concert "Dzieci-dzieciom. For children from Ukraine".
We are very happy that by hosting families from Ukraine we meet with such great support and understanding of the participants of the projects and other guests coming to us. We continue our statutory activities all the time. Projects, workshops, seminars and school exchanges take place in Krzyżowa. The groups who come to Krzyżowa very often offer material support to the refugees, but integration is also important - children from Ukraine take part in common bonfires and meet new colleagues. Thank you all very much for this sensitivity and understanding.
