On Sunday, the Head of the Świdnica Municipality, Teresa Mazurek, and the Mayor of Lampertheim, Gottfried Stőrmer, visited Krzyżowa. The guests were welcomed by Dr. Robert Żurek, managing director of the Krzyżowa Foundation and Anita Kończewska, assistant of the management board.
The delegation from the German partner municipality came to Poland with material and financial support. Inhabitants and social organizations from Lampertheim prepared gifts for Ukrainian citizens affected by the armed conflict, who have been living in the Świdnica municipality for a month. In addition to the material support, Mayor Stőrmer handed over a cheque for €11,750 to Mayor Teresa Mazurek on the steps of the Krzyżowa palace. This amount is to be used by the municipality to support Ukrainian citizens.
During a visit lasting several hours, the Head of the Municipality presented the Mayor of Lampertheim with a system of care for Ukrainian citizens in institutional locations such as, among others, the Krzyżowa Foundation. Delegation from both municipalities visited spaces designed for living of our guests and got acquainted with educational support programme which has been realized in Krzyżowa since the beginning of stay of refugees and women. The meeting of representatives of partner communities from Poland and Germany, which have been organising joint youth exchanges in Krzyżowa for years, was also an opportunity to discuss the continuation of joint educational activities. Our guests visited an ecological garden which has been under construction for a year now.
We would like to thank the Świdnica Municipality for providing the photos from the event.
