It has already been a month since Russia attacked Ukraine. We have been hosting people fleeing the war in Krzyżowa for three weeks. At the moment, almost 100 people are staying in Krzyżowa, half of them are children and youth.
We are very happy that on Monday, our school age guests started their education in Primary School in Grodziszcze and in First High School in Świdnica. All new pupils and students are very happy with how their first days in Polish school went. We would like to thank the management and teachers of both institutions as well as the students for their warm welcome, which was very important for our Ukrainian guests.
Once again, we would also like to thank our sponsors and donors for the school kits, which made it possible for the children to start this new stage at school without any problems.
This week we focused on assisting our guests with formal procedures related to their stay in Poland. We also continued our pedagogical offer for children and young people. As usual, the youngest children take part in activities organized by Ukrainian volunteers - Julia and Natalia, and older children in the afternoon - sports activities and integration meetings. On 21 March, the youngest children also took part in a parade to welcome spring, which was organised by the teachers from our kindergarten. The walk with colourful flowers and music in the background ended with a common game in the Foundation's courtyard. This week all the children also took part in cooking classes led by Julia and Natalia. The results were delicious, and there was even more joy and laughter.
The needs are great, and we are still trying to provide our guests with the most necessary things. Therefore, we would like to thank everyone who helps us in this great challenge of helping people fleeing war in Ukraine - sponsors, individual donors, institutions, our partners, organisations from Poland, Germany and other countries. Your support is invaluable and allows us to plan further activities. But the needs are enormous. Therefore, we remind you that together with our partners from Germany: Kreisau-Initiative e. V. and Freya von Moltke Foundation for Krzyżowa - as well as the team of International Chamber Music Festival Krzyżowa-Music, we are collecting donations for Ukrainian refugees in Krzyżowa.
The financial support we receive should enable us to cover the most urgent needs connected with the stay of families in Krzyżowa.
