This year, for the first time the Krzyżowa Foundation for Mutual Understanding in Europe joined the coalition of NGOs active in the project Jochanneum Novum, funded by the Municipality of Wrocław.

Our task in this project was to carry out trainings for teachers of Wrocław primary and secondary schools on anti-discrimination education tool "Stories that move". The coordinator of these activities was Liubov Shynder - specialist of educational projects of International Youth Meeting Place in Krzyżowa.

„International youth exchange - meeting of partners” – under this slogan, an online meeting was held on 7 December 2021, addressed to people from Poland, Germany and Ukraine. Its main goal was to initiate tripartite partnerships between schools from these three countries, resulting in the organization of youth exchanges both in Krzyżowa and elsewhere.

Despite the online formula, the meeting was very popular and allowed the participating teachers to make new acquaintances, exchange contacts and experiences as well as ideas for future cooperation. The meeting was attended by people who know Krzyżowa well and had the opportunity to participate in our projects, as well as people who learned about the possibilities of organizing international meetings for young people thanks to this event.

It's here and we can finally announce it - the list of winners of the International Essay Competition "My Europe of Freedom/ My Evropa Svobody/ Mein Europa der Freiheit". It includes authors from Poland, Germany and the Czech Republic who submitted their work by 12 April 2021.

Our list of finalists now includes 6 authors each from Poland, Germany and the Czech Republic. But it will not be until 11 December, at a gala event at the Zeitgeschichtliches Forum in Leipzig, that our international jury will announce the names of 3 winners from each country. These persons will receive cash prizes.

Online youth meeting - can it work? Yes!

In April, the first online meeting of young people from schools in Olkusz and Gräfelfing, which have been meeting with their groups in Krzyżowa for many years, took place. This time, the meeting was different but no less informative. The content of the programme focused on the topic "Digital Ethics" and brought together 30 young people in a virtual space. During the four days of the project, the participants reflected on their own media behaviour and analysed the relationship between personal needs and the use of social media and other applications. They discussed and named anti-democratic tendencies on the Internet and learned about the concept of "counterspeech" in order to work constructively to make the Internet a place based on democratic values by standing up for democracy and human rights online, taking action against hate speech and spreading positive narratives.
