Krzyżowa Foundation, in cooperation with partners from the Netherlands, Romania and Italy, is implementing a new educational project 'Remember the Rebel'.
The aim of the project is to discuss the foundations of democracy, the relevance of legislated law to the changing needs of society and the limits of civil disobedience.
The pretext for starting this discussion is case study of biographies of people from different European countries, active in different decades of the second half of the 20th and 21st centuries, who had one thing in common - they had the courage to peacefully defy the authorities, to speak out against outdated cultural norms or legal regulations. That is, all those elements of everyday life that we can call the status quo.
This educational project is aimed at secondary school pupils. Participants will take part in specially organised workshops and lectures, the aim of which is to provide them with theoretical and historical knowledge to understand the context of the presented cases and discuss them.
An essential element of the project is an exhibition presenting the profiles of nine people who had the courage and determination to defy the status quo. Three-dimensional glasses are required to view the exhibition. Through the red lens, you can see what was - through the blue lens - the world they desired.
The exhibition will be presented from 2 to 30 April in the Aula of the Ossoliński National Institute (Wrocław, Szewska street 37).
The project is carried out in Poland by the Krzyżowa Foundation for Mutual Understanding in Europe in cooperation with the Ossoliński National Institute.
This project was initiated by Autres Directions Foundation (NL) in collaboration with Krzyzowa Foundation (PL), IoDeposito (IT) and Polylogos (RO) .
Co-funded by the European Commission.
