A press conference announcing the seventh edition of the International Chamber Music Festival Krzyżowa-Music took place on 8 July in The Free State of Saxony's liaison office in Wrocław.

The meeting with media was attended by:

  • Mathias Weilandt - State Secretary at the Saxon State Ministry for Justice, Democracy, Europe and Equal Treatment

  • Dr. Matthias von Hülsen - General Director of Krzyżowa-Music,

  • Prof. Viviane Hagner - artistic director of Krzyżowa-Music,

  • Aleksandra Królak-Wąsowicz - Director for Organisation and Development at the Krzyżowa Foundation for Mutual Understanding in Europe
    and

  • Thomas Guddat - Director of the Saxon Office in Wrocław.

Traditionally, the conference was honoured by a musical performance by the festival's artistic director Viviane Hagner herself, accompanied by Julia Hamos. The audience had the opportunity to hear pieces from the repertoire of Fryderyk Chopin and Robert Schumann.

The conference was an opportunity to present the programme of this year's edition of the festival and its main theme, which is music and film in the perspective of the last 100 years, especially in times of crisis.

The seventh edition of Krzyżowa-Music. What will happen this year?

As every year, musicians from all over the world will meet in Krzyżowa. After several days of workshops, they will present their skills during concerts in Krzyżowa, Wrocław, Szczawno-Zdrój and Grodziszcze. More than 50 instrumentalists will take part in the festival. They will work together in a traditional Senior and Junior partnesrship. We will also host 30 singers in Krzyżowa for the first time. During the workshops, musicians will work on performing 50 pieces from classical and contemporary repertoire. They will then present them to the exceptional Lower Silesian audience during 12 concerts.

This year's Seniors include musicians with worldwide concert experience, such as pianists Andrea Lucchesini, Matthias Kirschnereit and Adam Golka, violinist Oliver Wille of the Kuss Quartet, violist Volker Jacobsen, a founding member of the Artemis Quartet, cellist Konstantin Heidrich of the Fauré Quartet and clarinettist David Orlowsky. Polish-born Agata Szymczewska, Primaria of the Szymanowski Quartet, Krzysztof Chorzelski, violist of the Belcea Quartet, percussionist Wojciech Herzyk, soprano Natalia Stawicka, and French horn player Maciej Baranowski will also share their years of musical experience. Violinist, composer and actor Aleksey Igudesman will be a special guest at the symposium, which is part of the festival. Two concerts in this year's edition will be dedicated to the Finnish pianist, conductor and composer Ollie Mustonen. On 4 September, a special evening concert will be held in Krzyżowa, which will be dedicated to the 30th anniversary of signing the Treaty of Good Neighbourhood and Friendly Cooperation.

This year again, the festival concerts will be free of charge - the only condition for participation will be registering at www.krzyzowa-music.eu.

More details about the seventh edition of the Krzyżowa-Music Chamber Music Festival will soon be available on www.krzyzowa-music.eu and www.krzyzowa.org.pl/en.
