Between 23 and 26 June 2022, the founders and donors of the Freya von Moltke Foundation were hosted in Krzyżowa. After a two-year break due to a pandemic, members of the Krzyżowa network felt the need to finally visit Krzyżowa again and exchange new ideas.
In terms of content, the programme of our guests' visit was dominated by the theme of 'war and flight', both in a current and historical context.
Our temporary exhibition depicting the westward shift of Poland was also presented. In conversation with political scientist Bartek Ostrowski and PhD Robert Żurek, the Polish approach to the war in Ukraine was also discussed.

With Prof. Dr. Krzysztof Ruchniewicz, the participants also had the opportunity to discuss the culture of remembrance in Poland and Germany.

The second focus was on the Kreisau Circle and the 80th anniversary of its first meeting in Krzyżowa, which was celebrated in June . During the visit, Helmuth Caspar von Moltke and Sabine Reichwein told their stories from the perspective of the children of the German resistance against Hitler.

In addition, during their stay in Krzyżowa, there was a premiere reading of the letters of Freya and Helmuth James von Moltke by artists from the Theatre Ensemble from Stuttgart. The reading took place in the presence of the son of the authors of the letters and in the place where they were written. It was a very moving moment.

We would like to thank the Freya von Moltke Foundation and its benefactors for their visit, their keen interest and their long-standing support and friendship. See you next year at the latest!
