A delegation from the Willy Robert Pitzer Foundation visited Krzyżowa on 15-17.06.2022. Since 2016, the Pitzer Foundation has been supporting the activities of the Krzyzowa Foundation - initially through the award of the Erika Pitzer Prize for the International Youth Meeting Centre - and since 2021 through long-term support to strengthen international cooperation.
This year, representatives of the Pitzer Foundation were able to get to know the work of the Foundation and the International Youth Meeting Place and the Memorial Site on site. The trip was organised in cooperation with the Frey von Moltke Foundation and was accompanied by Helmuth Caspar von Moltke and Dr Anna Quirin. During the stay, the programme was very densely packed, including meetings with contemporary witnesses of Kreisau's historical events, excursions and presentations. However, everything was focused on the exchange of experiences and mutual integration and getting to know each other.
The most interesting talks were on historical topics. Helmuth Caspar von Moltke, son of Helmuth James and Freya von Moltke, in conversation with Dominik Kretschmann, director of the Memorial Site, spoke about the significance of the Kreisau Circle then and now - citing his own memories. In turn, Michal Czaplinski vividly recalled the dangers accompanying the organisation of the Reconciliation Mass in Krzyzowa, and PhD Annemarie Franke completed the historical perspective.
The meeting also remembered the presentation of educational and youth work, given in the form of a lecture by PhD Robert Żurek and PhD Anna Poznańska. Afterwards, Anita Kończewska informed about assistance for Ukraine in Krzyżowa. The delegates were able to gain vivid impressions of the school exchange, where they attended presentations by female students. The visit was rounded off with a visit to the Church of Peace in Świdnica and a piano concert by pianist Sonia Ackhar at the Ludomir Różycki State Music School of the First Degree in Świdnica, followed by an excursion to Wrocław.
We would like to thank the Pitzer Foundation delegation for the visit and all the participants for their contribution to the success of the visit.
