On 29-30 September, employees of "Krzyżowa" Foundation took part in a study visit in EUC Zealand in Næstved, Denmark. The visit was organised within a project "Skills and Talent" funded by Erasmus+ programme.
The aim of the "Skills and Talent" project is to exchange experiences of partners participating in skills competitions and to create a good practice handbook for VET (Vocational Education and Training) institutions and VET teachers and trainers. The handbook/platform will include sample materials on the organisation of skills competitions, preparation of pupils for competitions, information materials and exercises for primary and lower secondary school pupils, teaching materials for vocational school pupils, training methods for VET teachers and trainers, etc.
Over the last decade, skills competitions in vocational education and training have grown in popularity and recognition. The best known of these is the international WorldSkills competition, but national, regional and local skills competitions have also become more common in all European countries.
The benefits for students, schools and companies participating in skills competitions seem obvious. Students strengthen their professional and personal skills and universities gain prestige Skills competitions have a strong impact on making vocational education and training programmes more attractive and prestigious for future students. Participation in skills competitions allows the development of new teaching materials and methods that can be used in the further training of VET students.
EUC Zealand is the main university for vocational education and training in South Zealand. EUC Zealand has training centres in Næstved, Haslev, Køge and Vordingborg.
The project partners are: EUC SJÆLLAND from Denmark, Krzyżowa Foundation for European Understanding from Poland, Kauno statybos ir paslaugu mokymo centras from Lithuania.
