On Friday, November 24, 2023, at 2:43 pm, an exciting journey will begin at Berlin-Lichtenberg station! Krzyzowa will be the guest of the Train to Culture.
We like the idea of a Polish-German cultural train, which is now in its eighth year connecting Berlin and Krzyzowa, and the program's design gives us the opportunity to introduce Krzyzowa and all that it entails, as well as to point out that Krzyzowa can be easily reached by train.
The excursion program will be organized by the staff of our Foundation, the Kreisau-Initiative and the Freya von Moltke Foundation, and there will be, among other things, live music performed by the Smooth Acoustic Duo and a quiz that will provide all passengers with the opportunity to gain knowledge and win prizes.
The train departs Berlin-Lichtenberg at 2:43 pm and travels via Berlin-Ostkreuz, Cottbus/Chóśebuz, Weißwasser/Béla Woda, Węgliniec/Kohlfurt, Bolesławiec/Bunzlau, Legnica/Liegnitz to Wrocław/Breslau in 4.5 hours.
The program revolving around history, literature and the present will take place in a "cultural compartment," in which the Smooth Acoustic Duo from Lower Silesia will also play. The emphasis is on meetings and dialogue, and we encourage you to participate in our journey!
Tips for further program upon arrival in Wroclaw:
You can continue your journey to Krzyzowa by changing trains, or first take a stroll through the center of Wroclaw (where the Christmas market will open on the same day). There is a direct train to Krzyzowa from Wroclaw in the later hours.
On November 25, you can book a guided tour of Krzyzowa and enjoy a cafe.
It is also possible to spend a day or weekend in Wroclaw.
However, if you like train travel above all else, you can return to Berlin that same evening on the Culture Train (then without our program).
