On 6th to 10th of February 2023, three schools from Poland, Ukraine and Germany met in Krzyżowa. Of 20 students and pupils from Willy Brandt Gesamtschule from Marl (near Dortmund) led by teachers Kartharina and Christoph met with people from the School Complex in Krzepice, (20 students and pupils with teachers Alina and Basia) and with the Ukrainian school "Steam" from Dnepr, (25 students with teachers Yana, Liliia and Svitlana).
The topic of this exchange was intercultural cooperation and historical/political education. Aside from different activities to learn to know each other, we worked on identifying what makes a political-historical event and how events are commemorated in our different countries. What is in the news the 9th of February 2038? Always with the aim to stimulate intercultural cooperation, we became creative in small binational groups, projecting on what could be a future event, fifteen years ahead. And of course, we discovered the history of Krzyżowa and it’s memorial place, and also the history of the castle of Książ/Furstenstein in the near environment of the center.
