From September 22th to 25th 2022 the Kreisau-journey of the Diakonissenanstalt Dresden e.V. took place. 23 participants between 37 and over 80 years came to Krzyżowa to learn about the history of Kreisau and to deal with the German-Polish history and - in workshops - with the topics of resistance and reconciliation.
As the Diakonissenanstalt Dresden is a member of the worldwide Cross of Nails community, an insight into the history of the Coventry Cross of Nails, the Diakonissenanstalt Dresden and the Cross of Nails in Kreisau was a central part of the program. One of the participants himself was involved in rebuilding the Deaconess Hospital in Dresden in 1965 as a youth together with young people from England/Coventry and shared his memories. On Friday noon, the group gathered for the Coventry Prayer of Reconciliation at the Cross of Nails in Kreisau Castle.
The program further included a trip to Świdnica with a visit to the Peace Church and an excursion to Dzierżoniów with a visit to the Rutika Synagogue, through which Rafael Blau led the tour - Rafael Blau has lived as a child in Dzierżoniów, is living today in Israel and Poland and is chairman of the Beiteinu Chaj Foundation, which owns the synagogue. The participants were also impressed by the lecture on German-Polish history by the Managing Director of the Krzyżowa Foundation, DSc Robert Żurek. The group spent cozy evenings at Café U Hrabiego, around the campfire and at the cinema. The trip ended with a Sunday morning service in St. Michael's Church in Kreisau, which was prepared, ogranized and musically accompanied by the group itself.
