Krzyżowa Foundation for Mutual Understanding in Europe was among the winners of the GlobART competition organized by ProgettoMondo Mlal Onlus from Verona. The Italian organization realized the contest within the framework of regranting for global education activities financed by the European Commission ("Start the Change!" project).
The winning project of the Foundation includes 11 exchanges for young people and students aged 14-18 and 18-25, which will take place between October 2019 and 15 May 2020. The target group (300 people) are young people of different nationalities (from Poland, Germany, Ukraine, Romania) who will participate in youth exchanges at the Krzyżowa Foundation. One of the main topics of these meetings will be global education. The youth will work on one of the selected topics:
- migration dynamics, consumer behavior, its impact on climate change, globalization, global interdependencies, North-South relations, food security, gender equality, rights (children's rights, human rights, right to education, women's rights), inequality, intolerance, racism, refugees, civil society, values (empathy, respect, solidarity, tolerance, understanding, social inclusion), change management, discrimination, ethical responsibility, consumption habits, fair trade.
The work plan for all groups is very similar. On the second day of the meeting they will take part in a 4-hour workshop on a specific topic and then on the fourth (or fifth) day they will work for another 4 hours on the artistic expression of the topic (8 hours in total).
One of the final results of the artistic expression of all 11 groups will be a mural. Each group will create a fragment of a large painting on the wall, which will be exhibited in Krzyżowa at the end of the project.
