Prof. Pierre-Frédéric Weber

Doctor with a habilitation degree, a historian specialising in modern history, and an associate professor of the Szczecin University at the Institute of History (Faculty of Humanities).He is a French citizen who was born in Austria. He studied history, German and Slavonic philologies in Angers and Paris. He defended his doctoral dissertation at the Sorbonne University in Paris (2006). In his research, he is primarily interested in German-Polish relations in the international context, the normalisation and reconciliation processes in Europe since 1945, and the role of emotions (e.g. fear) in international relations.

Pierre-Frédéric Weber has regularly cooperated with the “Krzyżowa” Foundation since 2013, and since 2015 he has been a member of the Commission for the Memorial and European Academy in Krzyżowa. He attaches great importance to the trans-European dimension of Krzyżowa as a multi-layered place for overcoming conflicts. Since 2018, he has held the position of Honorary Consul of France in Szczecin.
