Maryna Czaplińska
A culture expert, educator and producer of artistic events. For years she has been involved in informal activities related to cultural and political education within the framework of international programmes. She is currently involved in the Active Citizens Programme of the Regional Fund. She has been connected to Krzyżowa “since forever”, i.e. since 1989, first as a volunteer and then on a professional basis (she was the first person employed in the “Krzyżowa” Foundation which was being established at that time) and has been a member of the Foundation’s Council for three terms.
She has many personal memories of Krzyżowa: her wedding, her children's baptism and her daughter's wedding all took place here. But most important are the people who she became acquainted with thanks to Krzyżowa, including Freya von Moltke herself who is her inspiration. She calls Krzyżowa her “biggest life adventure”, as it has allowed her to see places, about the existence of which she had no idea, and to take part in events, which have gone down in history. She tries to make Krzyżowa a place that is equally important for her children - each of them has participated in various summer projects of the foundation, and at home, they are participants of many conversations about the heritage of Krzyżowa.
She lives in Warsaw, where she has worked for many years on the board of the Club of Catholic Intelligentsia, and where she tries to instil the "spirit of Krzyżowa".
