Dr. Marek Mutor
A Polish philologist and historian, a graduate of the University of Wrocław who also completed postgraduate studies at the Academy of Culture Leaders run by the Cracow University of Economics. Marek is the founder and director of the ”Memory and Future” Centre and creator of “Centrum Historii Zajezdnia" [Depot History Centre]. He is also an organiser of projects and historical exhibitions, including: United Wrocław, Train to History and Wrocław 1945-2016 (a permanent exhibition at the Depot History Centre).
He specialises in the biography of Cardinal Bolesław Kominek, the initiator of the letter sent by the Polish bishops to the German bishops in the year 1965. In the years 2005-2006 and in 2016 he was director of the National Centre for Culture. He is one of the creators of the state programme entitled “Patriotism of Tomorrow". He is a member of authorities of the European Memory and Conscience Platform, an international organisation working to expand knowledge about totalitarian regimes of the 20th century. He was responsible for the organisation of the official celebrations of the anniversary of the sending of a letter by the Polish bishops to the German bishops, and also for the coordination of the state celebrations of the 1050th anniversary of the Baptism of Poland.
Marek Mutor is the author of numerous publications regarding the post-war history of Wrocław. In the years 2002-2009 he was a councillor of the Wrocław Municipal Council, and in the years 2006-2007, served as its vice chairman.
