Darius Polok
Director of International Alumni Center (iac Berlin), a competence centre founded by Robert Bosch Stiftung (English: The Robert Bosch Foundation) which supports the establishment of alumni communities and the network of contacts in the area of philantrophy. The International Alumni Center, in cooperation with Robert Bosch Stiftung, coordinates the Bosch Alumni Network of more than 7000 people worldwide and provides networking advice to non-profit organisations.
He studies Slavonic Philology and philosophy at universities in Bochum, Wrocław and Potsdam. He is the co-founder and former director of MitOst e.V., a European network of civic society actors. In 2009, he received an award granted by the Krzyżowa Foundation, i.e. ”From Kreisau to Krzyżowa: award for sustainable cooperation and understanding in Europe” in the ”Personality” category.
Since 1997, he has actively observed the establishment of the International Youth Meeting Centre (IYMC), running seminars organised by MitOst e.V in Krzyżowa. These workshops contributed to the creation of the Theodor-Heuss-Kolleg programme for European civic education. His two sons took their first steps in the IYMC courtyard.
