The Krzyżowa Foundation for Mutual Understanding in Europe invites you to a presentation of a work by the artistic duo - Jarek Lustych and Elke Burkert. The opening will take place on 23.08.2021 at 13.00 on the premises of the Krzyżowa Foundation. The work is a result of the first international artistic residency “Art. Land. Art” realized with the support of the Consulate General of Germany in Wrocław.
We would like to remind you that Krzyżowa is hosting the Artistic Residency project "Art. Land. Art." Two artists take part in it - Elke Burkert from Germany and Jarek Lustych from Poland - who are working on a joint project.
Elke Burkert is this year's graduate of the Universität der Künste Berlin, lives and works in Berlin. Despite her young age, she has already exhibited her works in many Berlin galleries, such as: Galerie Friese, Kommunale Galerie, KühlhausBerlin, Galerie oqbo, Kunstraum Keller, as well as the Kunstraum in Potsdam. She co-created exhibitions such as: "Brave New World", "Kunst und Buch", "it´s only the end", "instability". She is interested in bookbinding.
Jarek Lustych graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Initially, the main area of his artistic focus was relief printing. Exploring its possibilities and limitations, he has created a series of works that have been shown in Poland and abroad. After his fifteen-year career in the confined space of printmaking following his basic training, Lustych decided it was time for some change and enriched his practice with an extra dimension in an attempt to redefine the perception area of art. Since then, he has participated in several international site-specific symposiums and artist-in-residency programmes making sculptures, installations and organizing street actions / interventions. Twice he received the Polish ministerial scholarships, but the most creative so far were his stays in VillaWaldberta AiR (Germany) & A4 AiR – Luxlakes A4 Art Museum, Chengdu, China.
