On November 14, a debate took place in Wrocław at Barbara / Wrocław Culture Institute, focusing on the transformations in Poland after 1989 and its path to NATO and the European Union.

The panel featured:

  • Monika Sus – political scientist, professor at the Institute of Political Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and visiting professor at the Centre for International Security Studies at Hertie School in Berlin.
  • Łukasz Kamiński – historian, director of the Ossolineum National Institute, former president of the Institute of National Remembrance, and researcher at the Institute of History at the University of Wrocław.
  • Katarzyna Kaczorowska (moderator) – journalist and reporter contributing to Magazyn TVN24, Newsweek, Tygodnik Powszechny, and editor-in-chief of Głos Uczelni, the journal of Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences.

The debate was attended by 84 participants, including students and teachers from Wrocław’s secondary schools.

This event was part of the educational project "Perhaps the Return to Europe Is Too Modest a Term..." Poland’s Path to NATO and the European Union. The History and Significance of the Transformations from 1989–2004, implemented by the Krzyżowa Foundation for Mutual Understanding in Europe in cooperation with the “Remembrance and Future” Center.

The project is co-funded by the Museum of Polish History in Warsaw as part of the “Patriotism of Tomorrow” program.
