On 21-23 February in Krzyżowa took place the first workshops as part of the second module of the project "Our common world - global education of children". This time the participants were teachers of preschool education from institutions operating in Świdnica and students of the Lower Silesian University.

The aims of the first training block called "Contents and ethics of global education" were:

  • to acquaint participants with the issues of global education and methods of its implementation in Poland,
  • to reflect on the ethics of global education in accordance with the Code on Images and Messages concerning countries of the South,
  • to reflect on one's own attitudes and motivation to implement EG in working with children.

Additionally, small activating forms were integrated into individual blocks (short games, games, warmers embedded in the cultural contexts of the countries of the global South), which can be immediately used in working with children.

Further training blocks will take place in March, April and May 2019. In November 2019 and 2020, each institution participating in the training will conduct Global Education Week for its pupils - a thematic week devoted to selected educational issues in accordance with the rules established during the training and using materials produced within the project. Parents, grandparents and grandmothers of pre-school and school children will also be invited to this event.

The project "Our common world - global education of children" financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland was implemented under the name "Global education of children changes our world" by the Angelus Silesius Meeting House in Wrocław, Kłodzko, Kalisz, Poznań and Warsaw from 2012 to 2015, attended by over 220 preschool teachers from 100 kindergartens. The project involved the creation of a publication (http://www.silesius.org.pl/uploads/AS_Publication_2013.pdf) and a website with lesson plans, thematic articles, visual materials and reports on project implementation in various institutions: http://www.eduglob.silesius.org.pl/

In 2019 the Krzyżowa Foundation for Mutual Understanding in Europe will continue the implementation of the project in the Świdnica Municipality in consultation with the Świdnica Municipality Education Team.
