From 10-16.01.2019 at the International Youth Meeting Center in Kreisau took place a trilateral youth meeting on the topic of migration and flight . During this time, the participants were offered a platform to exchange ideas on topics such as the current situation, developments, causes and reasons for flight and expulsion. The exchange offered young people the opportunity to get to know other perspectives and experiences and to discuss common values such as freedom and tolerance. In this way, the participants were sensitized to different opinions, perspectives and positions on the topics of flight and migration.
In a simulation game, the young people took on roles as citizens of the European Union and played a special summit of the European Council on the subject of European asylum and refugee policy. The aim of this simulation was to exchange views on different positions, to got to know the work of the European Council as well as European decision-making processes.
The background also serves as a basis for the debate on political participation, active citizenship and political participation. Respect for human rights should also be promoted and the discussion of common European values encouraged. In this way, the participants of the trilateral Youth Exchange had the opportunity to live the European idea for themselves within the framework of this project.
