Behind us is the first turn of the summer camp "Closer to nature", whose leitmotif this year was ecology and environmental knowledge to explain to young people why and how to protect them. Two groups of children and young people spent a week of intensive workshops and games in Krzyżowa. The younger one (7-10 years old) participated in English language learning activities, the older one (11-14 years old) was teaching her artistic skills. All activities aimed at developing young people's interests as well as shaping their personality in the spirit of cooperation and respect for nature. The colonial activities were ensured by an international team of teachers with experience in humanistic and non-formal education.
The language group, although dedicated to english, was also happy to learn a few words in turkish, german, ukrainian, russian or spanish. She mainly talked about nature, which is at hand in Krzyżowa, and about ecology, which helps to preserve the beauty of this nature. The artistic group learned how to use different natural materials to create beautiful and useful objects, and how to prepare their own ecological paints and applications. Observing the picturesque surroundings of Krzyżowa, they were looking for inspiration and ideas on how artistic creation can protect nature.
There were also sports and integration games, as well as accents of multiculturalism. Participants of the semi-colonies got to know dances and traditional dishes from different cultures, including Spain, Germany and Ukraine. All the activities and activities were carried out in accordance with the precautionary rules of the COVID-19 epidemic. The physical distance did not prevent the relationship of camaraderie and sympathy between children, young people and our teachers.
