Ladies and gentlemen,
In response to the decision of the Minister of National Education, a non-public educational institution, operating as part of the International Youth Meeting Centre in Krzyżowa, suspends teaching and educational activities until 24 May 2020.
We would also like to inform you that in accordance with the recommendations of the Government Crisis Management Team, in the interest of our guests' health and safety, during this period the exhibitions and palace in Krzyżowa will be closed to the public. These actions are aimed at preventing the spread of coronavirus epidemic in Poland.
On 5-7 March, in Krzyżowa, the second meeting of 16 teachers of pre-school education from the Lower Silesia Voivodeship who take part in global education training took place. The training is implemented as part of the three-year project "Our Common World - Global Education for Children", co-financed by the Polish Development Cooperation Programme of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
For those interested in the subject of global education, we recommend the project's website: http://edukacjaglobalna.krzyzowa.org.pl , from which you can download the scenarios developed by the training participants, read the list of inspiring books for the youngest and download a set of educational photos for kindergartens to conduct global education.
Monuments are objects that have been placed in visible places in public space to pay tribute to the deserved, to preserve the memory of particularly important events, or to restore the memory of the forgotten. Sometimes, however, they become an element of conscious manipulation and are meant to change the way people perceive the past.
Their long-term presence in the public space allows us to see how the importance of what a monument commemorates changes over the years. This makes monuments an important indicator of changes in collective memory. Looking at their history - from the circumstances of their creation to their later fate - they can be used to learn and understand the history of a country.
To bring closer the knowledge about the ways in which monuments can be used to learn about history and therefore to better understand the role of memory in shaping identity and values is the aim of the project Monuments of Remembrance 1918-2018.

Until his retirement in 1992, Andreas Möckel was Professor of Special Education at the University of Würzburg. His achievements as a scientist and teacher are highly valued.
