June is slowly coming to an end and this means that along with it the school year is ending. A few of our young guests from Ukraine, since March, have been attending the Primary School in Grodziszcze and the Secondary School No. 1 in Świdnica. On Friday, June 24, 2022 along with their classmates, Ukrainian students for the first time took part in the end of the school year in Poland, thus receiving a promotion to the next grade.
In spite of the end of the school year, Polish language classes for our guests from Ukraine are still held on the Foundation's premises. Four times a week all of those who are interested attend two-hour lessons, which are co-financed by the Evangelical Theological School.
In this way, despite the war, young refugees have a chance to educate themselves, eliminate the feeling of temporariness and integrate with their peers and the local community.
We now wish you a restful vacation from school!

Exactly four months ago, on 24 February 2022, Russia attacked Ukraine. Since then, tens of thousands of people have died, hundreds of thousands have lost their family, health and possessions, and millions have had to leave their places of residence. Every day we are witnesses of another human tragedy in the media, we see another graves, another ruined buildings.
We, ordinary citizens, watch all this with a sense of helplessness. At the same time, sensitivity to the misfortune of the victims of aggression, the heroism of the defenders, and the bestiality of the attackers is dulled. The world is becoming accustomed to the barbarity of war. Images that caused shock four months ago now bring less emotion.
This is a normal human reaction, yet we must not succumb to it. Millions of people affected by the war are still in a dramatic situation and need our help and solidarity. Let us not refuse them!
The Krzyżowa Foundation for Mutual Understanding in Europe assures that we will continue to support Ukraine, both by offering shelter to those who have fled the war and by providing humanitarian aid to those who remain in their homeland, as well as by implementing educational projects which give participants from Ukraine the opportunity to acquire important competencies and establish relationships with partners from other European countries. We sincerely thank all our friends whose financial support makes these activities possible.
Last week, on 09.06.2022, our guests from Ukraine, participants of exchanges at the IYMC Krzyżowa, inhabitants of the village and visitors could take part in a preview concert of the Polish-Ukrainian orchestra "Music for Future" . Young and very talented musicians from Poland and Ukraine practiced in this way before the next important event, which took place the next day, a concert in the Church of Peace in Świdnica.
The conductor of the concert was Tomasz Zwolinski.
Repertoire:
The project was financed by a donation from the Hasso Plattner Foundation and funds from the Europe Culture Foundation.
