The "Education in Memorial Sites" project has been implemented in Wrocław since 2013. Its basic assumption is to shape attitudes of tolerance and respect for other nations, beliefs, cultures, religions, and at the same time to awaken pride in one's own history and cultural heritage.
Young people from primary and secondary schools take part in trips to Memorial Sites, which are preceded by comprehensive preparations. During classes and workshops at the school, students learn about the history of the places they will visit.
Since the beginning of the project, 35,000 students from Wrocław schools at various levels of education took part in the project.
On November 22nd, Krzyżowa hosted a three-day seminar in the framework of the "Laboratory of Dialogue and Reconciliation" project.
"Laboratory of Dialogue and Reconciliation" is a Polish-German project in the field of civic education, which aims to develop practical guidelines and recommendations to support constructive dialogue based on mutual respect – an attempt to oppose the growing polarization of society.
The programme was rich in discussions and debates with experts dealing with civic education.
On November 21th, we hosted in Krzyżowa activists of civic organizations from 🇷🇺 Russia. The visit of the group in Poland was organized by The Jan Nowak-Jeziorański College of Eastern Europe and the Foundation for Leaders of Change.
Our guests took part in a guided tour, during which they learned about the history of Krzyżowa.
The Foundation's activities, its offer and methods of action were discussed during a meeting with Dr. Robert Żurek - Managing Director of the Krzyżowa Foundation and Liubov Shynder - Specialist on educational projects of the IYMC in Krzyżowa.

The celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Reconciliation Mass began with a special Holy Mass commemorating the events of 12 November 1989. The Holy Mass, chaired by Archbishop Alfons Nossol, was concelebrated by Archbishop Ludwig Schick, Archbishop Victor Skwarc and Bishop Ignacy Dec.
The celebrations on November 12, 2019 in Krzyżowa had an international and ecumenical character. The ceremony was also attended by clergymen representing the Evangelical-Augsburg Church, including Bishop Waldemar Pytel (Diocese of Wroclaw Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland), who during a speech emphasized the importance of reconciliation and the need to seek peace at all times.
