Last summer a film crew worked for one day in Oak Avenue. Today you can watch the scenes shot on our beautiful alley leading to the Palace. There is already a film "Der Überläufer" available (directed by Florian Gallenberger), in which our alley "played" (4 minutes of the film).
"Der Überläufer" is an adaptation of the famous novel "Dezerter" by the German writer, Goethe Prize winner Siegfried Lenz, published also in Poland. The main character of the action of the novel, which takes place in 1944, is a young Wehrmacht soldier from Elk Walter Proska, assigned to a small unit to secure the railway line. Locked in a forest bunker, exhausted by the heat and the attacks of partisan forces, the soldiers who doubt the sense of the war are getting madder and madder every day. Trying to find themselves among this chaos Proska decides to desert and join the Polish partisans.
It is such a pity, that the conference: "Do the good - global education in the primary school" organised by Ośrodek Działań Ekologicznych "Źródła" couldn't take place in a regular way.
Instead all of the presentations have been recorded by professionals and will be made available on-line. Foundation "Krzyżowa" was represented by Anna Dańkowska, who talked about the educational materials about sustainable food in peer-to-peer approach "A recipe for a better world - we educate peers about food".
The publication is addressed to young people who would like to play the role of educators for their peers. It is about resources needed for food production, food origin, food waste and ways to reduce it, such as zero-waste cuisine, organic farming and the involvement of young people in campaigning activities.
We will inform, when the recordings from the conference will be ready.
The preparation for our online training #creatingSpace is in full swing. Unfortunately the participants do not have the chance to talk about digital ethics in Kreisau. Nevertheless, we would like to give the participants the feeling of moving between rooms and locations.
Therefore we will meet during the seminar in different rooms: sometimes in the ballroom, we will brainstorm on the grass in front of the castle, we will work in small groups in the lounge under the castle roof or in the Sala Majowa and take a break on the bench in the sun and maybe take a walk through the avenue together, all of course only virtually!

My learning process. Nosce te ipsum

All guides to volunteering programmes emphasise the deepest purpose of volunteering: learning process. It refers to young people who decide to volunteer and around this concept activities with volunteers are organised. The learning process is also what is carefully evaluated during and at the end of the project. Much less space is devoted to the enormous scope of this process, which includes not only the volunteers, but all those who have ever come into contact with the volunteers or the activities they have prepared.
Coordinating voluntary activities, in my case European Voluntary Service projects, now the European Solidarity Corps, is an ongoing learning process. On the face of it, coordination looks like human resources management with a touch of administrative work, but when I look deeper into it, it is all about meeting and experiencing new people and looking inside myself.
