It has already been a month since Russia attacked Ukraine. We have been hosting people fleeing the war in Krzyżowa for three weeks. At the moment, almost 100 people are staying in Krzyżowa, half of them are children and youth.
We are very happy that on Monday, our school age guests started their education in Primary School in Grodziszcze and in First High School in Świdnica. All new pupils and students are very happy with how their first days in Polish school went. We would like to thank the management and teachers of both institutions as well as the students for their warm welcome, which was very important for our Ukrainian guests.
Once again, we would also like to thank our sponsors and donors for the school kits, which made it possible for the children to start this new stage at school without any problems.

You have probably noticed that we do not publish images of our guests when describing our activities related to assistance for people fleeing war in Ukraine. Why did we decide on such a way?
When offering shelter to people fleeing war, danger and violence, we think first of their safety and comfort.
People fleeing war experience violence and danger, which they will not always tell us about. In a country that is still at war, their family members are often left behind in a state of emergency, and some of them are fighting on the frontline. We cannot predict how the situation will develop or what consequences these people or their relatives will face if they return home.

On 15-18 March we organized a Polish-German online youth exchange. About 30 students from Evangelische Schule Pankow from Berlin and the The Martin Luther Memorial Evangelical Centre for Diaconia and Education Foundation from Wrocław took part in it. Young people from both these institutions had already met together in Krzyżowa in recent years, now for the first time their exchange had an online formula.
The main topics of the meeting was: ecology, environmental protection and sustainable development. The organizers of the exchange also showed young people, live, places in Krzyżowa, which are interesting and valuable from the point of view of their importance for the environment.

The first day of the Polish-German-Israeli online youth exchange, which will last until 24 March 2022, is behind us. 45 young people from Tychy, Berlin and Yehud take part in it.
Creating a space for dialogue, exchanging ideas for international activities and developing long-term friendship between partner schools are one of the many goals of this year's meeting, which was transferred to a virtual space due to the pandemic. The next four days are a kind of introduction to a long-term project. This is the first meeting of young people, followed by two more, we hope in a stationary form. IIntegration, exchange of ideas, brainstorming, development of a multi-annual action plan - all this will allow young people to develop their social competences and strengthen their commitment to society in the international dimension.
